Accessibility statement
Last reviewed: 10 June 2026
Ember Education is committed to making Lantern usable by as many teachers as possible, including those who rely on assistive technologies. We are working towards conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.
Conformance status
Lantern is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the standard.
We run automated accessibility checks (axe-core) against our key screens on every change as part of continuous integration, and we maintain a remediation backlog of issues that require manual fixes.
Known limitations
Despite our efforts, you may encounter the following:
- Some colour combinations in secondary text and disabled controls may not yet meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio. We are remediating these against our design tokens.
- A small number of interactive controls and icons may be missing descriptive text labels for screen readers. Accessible names are being added across the report editor and library.
- Focus order and keyboard operability in a few complex surfaces (command palette, batch tools) are still being refined.
Compatibility
Lantern is designed to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) and their built-in zoom. The interface supports browser zoom up to 200% and does not lock the viewport scale.
